Cloud security predictions for 2016
Cloud computing really took off in 2015, as more and more businesses migrated to using cloud platforms instead of their own servers. So, what can we expect from cloud computing over the coming year? Let’s take a look at security.
1. Upgraded encryption and security
As well as being the year that cloud computing exploded, 2015 was also the year when cybersecurity really came to the fore. With the Snowden revelations, information about surveillance, and many cyber attacks and hacks of high profile websites like Talk Talk and Ashley Madison, it seems like everyone has been focused on keeping their data safe and secure. So, in 2016 you can expect cloud computing companies to be beefing up their security efforts, as a reaction to mounting public worries about internet safety. This means you can probably expect to see more encryption options on cloud computing platforms, as well as companies advertising their security features more prominently on their websites. This will be part of a larger trend across the internet, where users are starting to become more concerned about the safety of their data online.
2. Cloud as security
Along with security and encryption becoming a major concern for cloud platforms and their users, 2016 will also see more businesses moving their data into the cloud as a security feature in itself. After the year we have just had, many businesses are worried about the safety of their sensitive data, and so many are moving it to third party cloud platforms. This is because, as discussed in the point above, cloud platforms will develop heightened security features in 2016, meaning businesses feel safer using them as a secure storage facility, as well as a platform from which to run their applications and software systems.
