5 reasons Microsoft Surface could be the business tablet for you
A recent report by the market analyst Canalys reported that the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is outselling the iPad Pro in the enterprise market. It calculated that during the first quarter of 2016, business owners were buying almost twice as many Surface Pros as iPad Pros. So could the era of Apple’s dominance be coming to an end? Here are five reasons the Surface might be the ideal tablet for your business.
1) Compatibility
With the majority of businesses still running on Windows PCs, the Surface is a perfect match in terms of compatibility. Microsoft Office 365 have worked hard to make sure that the operating systems of their tablets and PCs play nicely with each other, making transfer of documents and general compatibility as smooth sailing as imaginable via Microsoft Office 365.
2) Price
The Surface Pro being a considerably cheaper option than its closest competitor the iPad Pro makes it a very attractive option for many businesses for whom cost-cutting is a priority. Add to this that the Apple Pencil, one of the iPad Pro’s major selling points, has failed to woo customers away from rival tablets, being by many accounts just a pretentious stylus.
3) The display
The Surface Pro is one of the few tablets to use the premium ‘optical bonding technology’ on its displays. This impressive process minimises glare and condensation, making it easy to read the display in any light. The result is a clear and attractive display that may not reach the technical standard of Apple’s Retina but holds its own at its price point.
4) The keyboards
A touchscreen is perfect for many situations, but when you’re hammering out letters and reports, nothing beats the use of an real keyboard. Microsoft includes two keyboard options with the Surface, which link into the screen via a magnetic clip. One is pancake-flat and responds to touch, and the other is a more traditional version with tactile keys.
5) The kickstand
The integrated kickstand on the Surface Pro might sound like a relatively minor feature – until you actually put it into use and realise it’s one of the most useful, its visibility a perfect fit for presentations, video conferencing and meetings.
